What is the undercarriage on an excavator?
Expert_Answer
The undercarriage is everything an excavator travels on: the track frames and the wear components mounted to them — track chains, track shoes, bottom (track) rollers, top (carrier) rollers, front idlers, sprockets and the track adjuster with its recoil spring. It carries the full weight of the machine, transmits drive power to the ground and absorbs the impact of travelling over rough terrain. Because every one of those components is a wear part, the undercarriage typically accounts for roughly half of an excavator's lifetime repair cost — more than any other system. VANROCK manufactures the complete undercarriage wear range for 5,300+ excavator, dozer and compact machine models, available through appointed dealers.
