Side slopes increase undercarriage wear because they shift machine weight unevenly across the track frame. The downhill side carries more load, which raises contact pressure on rollers, idlers, track links, and shoes. This can accelerate bushing, pin, and rail wear, and it may also increase shoe edge wear and track guiding component wear if the machine is frequently working cross-slope.

Steering on slopes adds more stress because the machine is already under side load, so turns can scrub the tracks instead of rolling cleanly. Over time, that extra side loading can reduce undercarriage life if the machine spends a lot of time on uneven ground.
