How do I choose replacement tracks for a bulldozer?
Expert_Answer
Start with what actually needs replacing: if only the chain is worn, a track chain (dry or sealed-and-lubricated) may be enough; if shoes are also finished, complete track groups — chains with shoes already fitted — save assembly time. Match the chain to your machine using the model and serial number, since the same dozer model can use different link counts and pitches by serial range. Choose shoe width for your ground: the narrowest shoe that still floats the machine lasts longest and puts the least stress on the drivetrain. Sealed and lubricated chains cost more but typically run far longer in normal earthmoving; dry chains suit severely abrasive or high-debris sites. Always compare sprocket and roller wear at the same time — new tracks on worn sprockets wear out early. VANROCK supplies dozer track chains, track groups and shoes for Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Dressta and other brands (independent aftermarket), quoted on request.
