// Q&A · Rubber Pads

Bolt-on, clip-on or chain-on rubber pads — which should I choose?

Expert_Answer

Choose by how often the machine changes between surfaces. Bolt-on pads fasten through the existing shoe bolt holes — the most secure option for machines that keep pads fitted for long periods. Clip-on pads clamp over the shoe without bolts, so they fit and remove fastest — ideal when the machine only occasionally crosses finished surfaces. Chain-on pads replace the shoe entirely, with the rubber block and base mounted directly to the chain — the cleanest permanent solution, and heavy-duty versions (such as VGRIP types) suit machines that work on pavement daily. Road pads are designed for continuous road work. VANROCK manufactures all four families — send your machine model and shoe width and the dealer will recommend the right type.
