Should I reuse track bolts when fitting new shoes?
Expert_Answer
It is best practice to replace track bolts when fitting new shoes. Track bolts are torque-to-yield in many applications, and once they have been tightened, their clamping force and thread integrity can be reduced. Reusing them increases the risk of under-torque, loosening, or bolt failure, which can damage the shoes, chain, and fasteners. If the machine manufacturer specifically allows reuse and the bolts are within spec, some applications may permit it, but you should always inspect for stretching, corrosion, damaged threads, and worn heads. For reliable service life, use new bolts and nuts as a matched set and tighten to the correct torque in the proper sequence. VANROCK supplies track shoes and fastening parts for many brands.
