Which tool works best on a vibro ripper for layered limestone or sandstone?
Use the tooth tool for layered limestone or sandstone. It is the standard tool and gives the highest output in limestone, sandstone, andesite and clay slate.
The tooth follows bedding planes and peels the layer off, which is exactly the working pattern you want in layered and fractured rock. That is why the vibro ripper is positioned for soft and medium-hard rock in the 20–72 MPa range, especially in layers under 50 cm.
If conditions change on the same site, you can swap tools on the same body:
- Tooth: soft and medium-hard rock
- Chisel: hard rock
- Compactor: trench backfill, embankments and fill
That gives one attachment body for ripping, harder-point breaking and compaction.
