The most common selection mistake is choosing by cutting force alone and ignoring excavator class and hydraulic requirement. On this range, the correct starting point is the specified carrier class: VR-RS 15 for 12–17 Tons, VR-RS 20 for 18–26 Tons, and VR-RS 30 for 26–32 Tons.

The next check is hydraulic demand. The three models do not share the same pressure requirement. They are 300 bar, 320 bar, and 350 bar respectively, with oil flow from 250–300 LPM up to 250–320 LPM. Rotation settings also differ between VR-RS 15 and the two larger models.

Another common mistake is overlooking opening and reach. VR-RS 15 has 600 mm max. opening width and 600 mm working depth, while VR-RS 20 and VR-RS 30 have 650 mm and 800 mm.
