What are the usual mistakes when selecting a side grip model?
The main mistake is choosing only by pile type and not by the excavator and hydraulics. On this range, clamp choice and model choice are separate decisions.
Typical selection mistakes are:
- ignoring the excavator tonnage range
- overlooking the required oil flow at 300 bar
- ordering the wrong clamp for round pile diameter
- assuming every model has the same side clamp opening
For example, all four models grip Ø76–610 mm piles, but VR-SG 15 has a 288 mm side clamp opening while VR-SG 25, VR-SG 30 and VR-SG 40 use 312 mm. Another common error is skipping force comparison: the range runs from 313 kN to 940 kN, so model size changes more than just attachment weight.
