What are the most common sizing mistakes with a W-type side grip pile driver?
The most common mistake is choosing only by excavator tonnage and ignoring the hydraulic requirement. These models overlap in carrier class, so tonnage alone is not enough.
A second mistake is not checking the actual section range against the job. The W type is specified for sheet piles, H-beams and I-H beams, with the guide stating sheet piles up to 1,200 mm wide and H-beams up to 180 × 500 mm.
A third mistake is overlooking operating limits that are the same on both models, such as 255 mm side clamp opening, 65 mm bottom jaw opening, 360° rotation and ±30° tilt. Those values matter for handling and access. Final selection should be based on excavator size, pile length, pile weight, and the correct oil flow at 300 bar.
